South Godstone
A Village Under Threat
Over Development
The proposed dwellings would not by sympathetic to the other housing and built form within the village and especially the proposed 4-storey buildings will change the character of South Godstone for the worse
I accept that people need places to live and that all areas (including our own) will need to play their part in the provision of housing, but the proposed development’s scale and location will completely change the nature of a largely rural environment and is certainly not sustainable by any measure.
The roads, public transport, schools, healthcare facilities, and utilities are already under considerable strain. The addition of a large number of new dwellings will exacerbate these pressures, leading to congestion, reduced service quality, and potential safety hazards. The development plan does not provide sufficient mitigation strategies.
The scale and density of the proposed development are disproportionate to the character and capacity of the local area. It represents an unsustainable expansion that threatens to alter the identity of our community, overwhelm local services, and disrupt the balance between urban and rural spaces.
